Expectant mothers and their significant partners are set to benefit from a donation made to the Childbirth Education Unit this week. Canberra Hospital midwives hosted a morning tea to thank the donors, Dennis Condon from Harvey Norman and Paul Walshe from ActewAGL for a new television, DVD player and set-top box.
Acting Executive Director for the Division of Women, Youth and Children Liz Chatham has welcomed the donation. “Our staff work extremely hard to ensure expectant parents are as prepared as possible for the birthing process and life with a brand new baby. The Childbirth Education Unit is a team of dedicated midwives who strive to ensure parents and families know what to expect, and also offer post natal advice and guidance on a variety of topics such as breastfeeding, and this equipment will make that job that bit easier,” Ms Chatham said.
ActewAGL Director of Marketing and Corporate Affairs Paul Walshe is pleased the donation’s been well received. “We understand that the service provided by the Childbirth Education Unit is invaluable for expectant parents preparing for the birth of their child or children. That’s why we were keen to come on board and provide some updated equipment, and if this improves the learning experience for families then job done,” Mr Walshe said.
Electrical Manager from Harvey Norman Fyshwick Dennis Condon shared Mr Walshe’s sentiment. “We decided it was a great cause. It’ll enhance learning opportunities visually and hopefully help midwives at Canberra Hospital facilitate classes at a very important time in people’s lives,” Mr Condon said.
The Canberra Hospital Foundation would like to thank ActewAGL and Harvey Norman for their generous support of the Childbirth Education Unit.
