Give Me 5 for Kids

Southern Cross 10 and Mix 106.3 hosted Give Me 5 for Kids, a month long campaign to raise funds to help children. A telethon was held on Wednesday 27 June with a number of friendly volunteers coming along to man the phones and encourage the community to donate.

In an amazing show of generosity by the Canberra community and local businesses, $81,872.52 was raised for Give Me 5 for Kids! Katy Gallagher kindly accepted the cheque on behalf of the Canberra Hospital Foundation at a cheque presentation held on Thursday 13th September at the Southern Cross 10 Studio.

“We are incredibly grateful for the overwhelming generosity of Southern Cross 10 and indeed the whole community for supporting the ‘Give me 5 for kids’ fundraising campaign,” the Chief Minister said.

“It is wonderful to see the community getting behind their local hospital and wanting to contribute to ensure our health care facilities and services are world class for our babies and children who are in hospital.

“Our new Centenary Hospital for Women & Children officially opened on 4 August this year, and this donation will contribute greatly to the purchase of items to enhance patient and family centred care,” the Chief Minister added.

“It is important to recognise that the funds raised through this campaign will remain in Canberra to support the local community.

"The health and wellbeing of our children and babies is naturally a high priority and we continue to focus on providing the best possible care for them at the Canberra Hospital,” the Chief Minister concluded.

A huge thank you to everyone who donated to this great cause and to Southern Cross Ten and Mix 106.3 for their support.
