In Memoriam

A gift to the Canberra Hospital Foundation in memory of a loved one will provide much needed support for patients who need our services every year. All gifts to the hospital can be directed to the department you would like to assist.

Following receipt of your donation we will send a letter to the family of the person you have donated in memory of notifying them of your donation. For your privacy, we will not disclose the amount of your donation. We will also send you a tax deductible receipt (for all donations over $2.00).

Organising a collection at a funeral

Many families are now choosing to ask friends and family to give a donation to the Canberra Hospital Foundation in lieu of flowers at the funeral of a loved one.

If you are organising a funeral, please ask your Funeral Director to provide the Canberra Hospital Foundation’s in memoriam envelopes at the service of your loved one. If your funeral director is unable to assist, please contact us by email at info@canberrahospitalfoundation.org.au or by telephone on 02 6244 3542 and we will organise for our in memoriam envelopes to be delivered direct to you within 1-2 working days.

To order in memoriam donation envelopes

Please call us on 02 6244 3542 or email us to order your in memoriam envelopes. The Canberra Hospital Foundation in memoriam envelopes are provided in packs of 30 envelopes along with instructions on how to return donations. Please let us know if you will require additional envelopes.

How to inform others

If you would like people to make a donation to the Canberra Hospital Foundation in lieu of flowers we suggest you include a request in your loved one's death notice. An example is: “Donations in lieu of flowers can be made to the Canberra Hospital Foundation, Po Box 11, Woden ACT 2602”.

If you wish, you can also specify a particular area within the hospital that you would like donations directed towards. For more information on the different areas within the hospital, go to our Hospital Departments page.

Information For Funeral Directors 

The Canberra Hospital Foundation has specialised in memoriam envelopes for Funeral Directors free of charge. If you do not have any of our in memoriam envelopes, or if you need to re-order please contact us by email or call us on 02 6244 3542 with your required amounts and we will organise for delivery of these to you.
